Celebrity sells...

I’ve never really thought of myself as starstruck.
While there’s no doubting the rise in popularity of celebrities – there’s obviously a reason why ‘Heat’ magazine exists and why brands spend money on celebrities to promote and endorse their products eg Mulberry and Alexa Chung, I’ve never really thought of myself as someone who is greatly influenced by celebrities in general. Then a couple of weeks ago I received the email below:

The subject line of the email: "Just In: New Candles, Scents and Hand Wash & Lotion!" Was ok, but not particularly inspiring.
The image header ‘aromas aglow’ – again ok, but what really caught my eye was the image used and the secondary header ‘Candles, Cameras & Colin Firth’. Yes, you’ve guessed it, before I knew what was happening I’d clicked to
find out what it was all about. So a quick glance revealed there was no photo of Colin Firth – but by now I was completely intrigued as to where he fitted in to the whole ‘Molton Brown’ equation. The reality was that he didn’t really, it was just the venue for the photoshoot was also used for scenes in The Kings Speech. But nevertheless, 10 out of 10 to Molton Brown – you hooked me in with the line and image and held my attention throughout the whole article – which was interesting and supported by some fabulous imagery from the shoot itself – Well done!
